A One-Person Operation
Years ago, people told me to hide the fact that Bands To Fans is basically a one-person operation. (My wife helps too, but she has her own full-time job she is dedicated to.) I tried it out, but I am ditching that advice.
Several people – some well-meaning, some just arrogant – said I had to pretend I was the head of a large corporation, one with multiple departments, an org chart, and painful staff meetings (“Moving on to slide 97…”). They said acting like you are many people is faking it until you make it. Actually, acting like you are many people is a multiple personality disorder.
They said no one wants to work with a business that is just one person. Well, I have worked with multiple artists, all of whom knew it was just me doing the work. Three bands have been with me for over a decade. So apparently some people do want to work with a business that is just one person.
I may not have an army of people to dedicate to projects. But when you work with me, you work with me. When clients need help, I handle it. When clients have questions, I find the answers. When they want to talk through an idea, I am the guy who gets on the phone with them.
