Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis & The News (clients): Lenny Picket is a sax player and the band leader for Saturday Night Live. Before SNL, he was with Tower of Power. He's from Berkeley and we have known each other for years.
About 20 years ago we did an East Coast tour and Lenny joined us for that. One day we were talking and he said he loved what we do, because it was a team effort. It's a real band. We're all in it together.
He compared us to a George Lucas film. With some movies, you listen to the soundtrack and you hear synthesizers doing all the string parts. And it sounds fine. He said, but then you go to a Lucas film and you hear a real orchestra, all those strings, everything. That sounds like money.
He said we were like that, touring with a nine-piece or twelve-piece lineup. Then he said that, going forward, there would be less and less of that around. It will never die. It's just going to get more expensive. He was right.
