A Tumultuous Time Led To Powerful Music

Ken Block of clients Sister Hazel: I went through a challenging time when we made the Chasing Daylight album. I was pre-sober. The band actually staged an intervention. You know you've got problems when a rock band stages an intervention for you, right? So after recording the tracks, the band started mixing the record and I started rehab.

While that was a tumultuous time for me personally and emotionally, it was also fertile ground for creating powerful, authentic music. I was feeling A LOT. Much of what I felt was awful. But I also felt creative, vulnerable, and deeply introspective. I am really proud of that record. It’s an honest snapshot of life… in real time.
