Kelsy Karter: I like the juxtaposition of the perfect and the imperfect, the messy and the tidy, the old and the new, the masculine and the feminine. We just like to have a little bit of all of that in everything we do because that's just who we are. The boys are quite feminine and I'm quite masculine.
Cris Cohen: There's the cover you did of the song from the movie “Footloose,” “Holding Out For A Hero.” But you switch the gender in the beginning. You're not looking for Hercules. You're looking for your Aphrodite. It seems you're naturally drawn to “let's see if we can play with this a little bit. Put our own spin things.”
Kelsy Karter: It's just about saying it and doing it in your own language. You are articulating it in your way. Like going back to like putting “Are You Entertained?” as the first song (on the album). That's our way. That's not fucking radio’s way. That's not a record label’s way. That's not Tik Tok’s way. That's our way. That's our way that we would release this record.
I didn't get into this business to follow anyone's rules. I didn't get into this business to be anyone but myself. And for the most part, I've done a pretty good job of sticking to that. Obviously, we all get influenced and think that other people know better. But at the end of the day, if I'm uncomfortable with something, we just don't do it. So yeah, I think we do a pretty good job of just staying true to ourselves. But sprinkling a bit of drama on it.
