Chris Isaak, Cowboy Mouth, Jason Adamo
Talking with Chris Isaak after his show in Durham. It was an amazing concert. His voice was as haunting and smooth as ever, the band was tight and soulful, and his between-song banter had the whole crowd laughing. And speaking of the band, thank you to Michael Webb, also of clients Cimarron 615, for making this happen. Now, if you suddenly have the urge to stream the song "Wicked Game," dive into Cimarron 615's self-titled album afterward. The songs are top notch and they pair nicely with Chris Isaak's work.
Chris Isaak also has a very quick wit. Actual exchange between he and my wife…
Michele: This was our first time seeing you in concert.
Chris Isaak: Don’t worry. We’ll get better.
The new album from clients Cowboy Mouth is out! Much like their own sound, the songs they cover on this album are a wonderfully-eclectic mix of styles and sources.
The dignified man in the middle is Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth. Drenched in sweat after their concert, he walked over, grabbed my ass, and then went through a series of lewd jokes. He is a dear friend.
Jason Adamo's voice always takes me by surprise. The power, the emotion, the dynamics... And his new single, "Nowhere" has it all. In fact, only a singer like Jason could make the triple negative of "I ain't never goin' nowhere" one of the most soulful lines you've ever heard.
