I saw a post the other day where someone defined a band’s true fans as people who:
Come to your shows - Agreed
Buy your products - Agreed
Always leave a comment or click like - Disagree
Yes, some true fans leave comments and click like. Other true fans don’t. I have met fans who never leave comments, but who have traveled hundreds of miles to see a band.
Suddenly people who buy tickets to your concert and incur multiple travel expenses to get there are not true fans just because they did not respond to your post with an emoji?
Social media is still a decent way for bands to communicate with their fans. But assuming that the people who clicked like or left a comment are the ONLY people your message resonated with is insane. Leave those short-sighted evaluations to the algorithms.

With the price of tickets, I for one could never afford to attend a concert. I still remain a true fan of many bands or performers. I would have to skip my bills and food for a month or two to attend.
