Cris Cohen: As a songwriter, do you lean more toward the poetic side or more straight ahead?

Jon Foreman of Switchfoot: Much to my brother's chagrin, I am more poetic. I love to read philosophy books. My favorite poets are the ones that leave holes where I can find myself in the poem. Specificity certainly can help. But I don't know what it was like to be in France during the 1800s. But I do know what it's like to feel like you're in love. I do know what it's like to feel pain. So, I do love a poem that has a hole or two for me to find myself in it.
