With content development, editing is key. I primarily work with text, but it is also true for video and audio material.
Recently, to improve my own editing, I went old school. Whether it is for client work or one of my Bands To Fans interviews, I now print out the transcripts onto paper. Then I turn away from the screen, grab a pen, and dig in.
By returning to the printed page, I found that the end result is much better and the editing process is faster.
Why I Do Not Use AI To Edit Interviews
AI cannot edit well (yet). It either does too little or too much. It either just improves the punctuation or it rewrites the transcript to the point where it is a work of fiction.
Good editing should eliminate extraneous material but keep the speaker’s personality and be an accurate record of what they said.
