Last Friday, January 12, two client Facebook pages were taken over by hackers. I immediately opened a case with Meta Business Support.
Meta did not take back the pages from the hackers.
At the end of last week, I was able to take back control of one client page using an old account the hackers forgot to shut out. Unfortunately, I was not able to do the same with the second client page. I updated Business Support.
Meta did not take back the page from the hackers.
I have provided Business Support with all the information they requested. I provided some information I was able to dig up on the hackers’ accounts.
Meta did not take back the page from the hackers.
I then had an additional chat conversation where the Business Support representative acknowledged twice that the page was hacked and that, after the hack, the page access for all legitimate admins were knocked down to where we could only see some stats.
I then showed the Business Support rep that the page was currently running ads. Thus the hackers were possibly trying to make fraudulent charges to our credit cards.
Meta has not taken back the page from the hackers.
It’s crazy that Meta won’t act with any sense of urgency on behalf of the pages that were hacked.
