Cris Cohen: There have been numerous references to Ozzy Osbourne’s influence on you. What I find interesting is that your sound is very different from Ozzy, from Black Sabbath. And I love the fact that you can be influenced by someone and not mimic them, not just become a clone. But from your perspective, what are the commonalities between your music and his?
Kyle Pfeiffer of Blacklite District: I'm glad you asked that. I've been seriously waiting for someone to ask that. Because I get it. For example, the song “You Can Do Better.” I see how people hear that whole package and say, “Where's the Sabbath? I hear all this electronic stuff.” There might be a hip hop beat coming here. The vocals are moderately (altered with effects).
But what people don't hear, underneath all the bells and whistles, if you stripped away all of that electronic stuff, if you just left the guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, all you would hear are Black Sabbath riffs, chord progressions, things like that. They're just dressed up in a bit more of a modern electronic fashion.
