Yesterday my wife and I got a private tour the DW Drums headquarters and factory. Wow was that cool.
First, thank you to Rich Redmond, who made this possible.
Also thank you to Joe, the guy in the photo with me. Joe told us the history of the company and took us through every section of the factory to show us how each drum kit is designed and built. All orders are custom and crafted primarily by hand.
We also saw and discussed their line of drum pedals and their new electronic drum kit, which amazingly does not use any cords or cables.
And, of course, there was the showroom. Behind us is the kit they created for Neil Peart for the Rush R40 tour. And this is not a replica. Neil played this kit. You can see strike marks on the toms from the last time he played it.
The only thing that would have made the tour cooler would be if they handed out free samples after.
